Adaptation
to Online Teaching-Learning and Administrative process
The
Covid-19 pandemic has posed considerable global concerns to higher education.
The sudden and unexpected request to teach previously face-to-face university
courses online has proven a difficulty. Online teaching and learning
necessitate pedagogical content knowledge relating to enhanced learning
experiences and establishing unique learning environments using digital
technology. The necessity to alter assessment to meet the new learning
requirements is also a challenge of present time. Kalyani Mahavidyalaya
responded to this crisis in the best possible way to implement digital teaching
and learning, and governance practises.
The
major obstacle to implement this pedagogical practice was as follows:
1. Creating
required infrastructure and environment for online delivery of teaching
2. Providing
training to teacher and induce student for this altered environment of learning
3. Creating
an appropriate environment and infrastructure to maintain online administrative
activity by upgrading the website for uploading notice, tenders, etc.
4. Strengthening
the internet connectivity and facility in college campus
5. Ensuring
the presence of staff for smooth functioning of administrative activity
adhering the government notification and pandemic management protocols.
The
academic and administrative staffs of Kalyani Mahavidyalaya have successfully overcome
these challenges as follows:
1. Teachers
took online classes from their home and college as and when required and
permitted.
2. All
examinations, assessments were taken in online mode and results were published.
3. Admission
for 2021-22 session was conducted in online mode as instructed by the
Government and affiliating University without requirement of physical presence
of students and teachers involved in the process.
4. Appropriate
training for teachers and non-teaching staff was conducted under the
supervision of IQAC, Kalyani Mahavidyalaya to induce them to online
teaching-learning process and nuances on online administrative procedure.
5. The
college ensured seamless administrative functioning through online uploading
and circulation of notices through website, WhatsApp groups, Email, etc.
