Through the wholehearted efforts of college authorities, students and past and present faculty members of this department and in collaboration with Microbiology department, a very well equipped Common Instrumentation Facility is maintained by the division.
- The facility houses several sophisticated scientific instruments like UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Trans-illuminator, Laminar Hood, Cold centrifuge, Incubators, Shaker, Colorimeter, Fine weighing balance, water bath, Ultra-low freezers and refrigerators for storage of reagents etc.
- Apart from the above, the departmental laboratory for students is equipped with all the necessary instruments and facilities required for carrying out day to day practical classes. This includes one Binocular microscope, several light microscopes, lab-wares for Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Cell biology practical courses.
- A full time, dedicated lab attendant takes care of the lab. The students also have access to the Common Computational Facility of this college (with 20 computers) for Bioinformatics Practical classes on Linux and C++ on a regular basis.
- The department is also equipped with three Desktop computers, one Laptop and one LCD projector used for interactive classroom sessions.
- While the departmental library has a decent repertoire of books for regular use, the Biotechnology section of the Central Library has a rich collection of Basic and Advanced level text books, each in multiple copies under ‘reference’ and ‘issue’ categories to be used by students and faculty members.
- Students also have access to INFLIBNET-NLIST resources through institutional subscription.
