About us:
Physiology
is one of the basic subjects in bioscience undergraduate curriculum; it deals
with the science and knowledge of normal function of human body. Modern human
physiology deals with knowledge related to every aspect of body function;
ranges from cellular level to the integrated systems functions. Physiology is
known as a Dynamic and Interdisciplinary subject. The journey of Physiology
department in was started from the session 2003-2004, although the subject
Physiology was taught as an honours course later on from 2010-2011.
At
present the department has one fulltime faculty holding the positions of Associate
Professor, 2 (two) State Aided College Teacher (SACT) and one visiting teacher.
There is one laboratory attendant.
Every
year, 31 students get the opportunity for studying three-year Physiology
Honours degree course and more than 30 students get admission for general
course with the Physiology as one of the subsidiary subjects. From the very
outset, the students of the Department showed remarkable success in academic
advancement and the tradition continues every year. The trend of success is
almost 100% every year with a very low dropout rate.
At
present the department has separate laboratories for the various segments of
Physiology like Histology, Biochemistry and Experimental Physiology.
Experiments are done on both human and animal subjects. The Laboratories are
well equipped and basic and advanced facilities are available with modern
equipments for effective learning process.
The
Department has got two desktop computers with LAN connection and one laptop.
Faculties often use ICT for better learning. The departmental library is also
functioning with various books.
Each
and everyone are dedicated to the department. The realization of vision for
tomorrow demands energy, commitment, courage, tenacity and most importantly
harmonious co-operation and team work. It also requires painstaking execution.
This is an enormous challenge to the department. However, the approach of the
department regarding this matter is with full confidence and enthusiasm. To
reach this goal the modus operandi adopted is a dynamic, all-pervasive
teaching-learning process. Special care is taken to achieve, discipline and
supreme academic excellence.
Beside
tight schedule of holding theoretical and practical classes the department
performs several activities like:
Tutorial
classes at regular intervals and home assignments are also arranged by the
faculty. Teachers are available beyond class hours and during vacations for
academic interaction with students.
The
department has a very energetic and vibrant faculty, eager to prove their
abilities in the field of physiological studies. They have varied interests in
different branches in Physiology and for the sake of the students different
Remedial Coaching Classes are performed on a regular basis. Regular
parent-teacher meeting held for evaluating the progress of the student.
Departmental seminar and class test are taken on regular basis. Regular
interaction with our ex-students, who have earned reputation in the post
graduation arena in Kalyani and other universities are organized in the
department.
The
Central library of the college is quite rich in collection of physiology,
biochemistry and other books. The students and the teachers normally consult
the library and advice the library committee to purchase the latest editions of
the high demanded books.
