A

To teach the students to looking at  intellectual, organisational and personal ideas and decisions from different perspectives so that they can build up successful career in teaching and / or other professions, pursue advanced studies and research in theoretical and applied politics.

To develop communication skill so that the students can speak, read, write and listen clearly in person and through electronic media in English and in at least, in any one Indian language. And to help the students to get meaning of the international world by connecting people, ideas, books, different media and technology.

To inculcate the qualities of effective citizenship and to enable the students to act with an awareness of issues and to participate in civic life voluntarily.

To make the students aware of the transforming global politics with market economy and competitive political stability.

 

E

To inculcate the temperament to understand the issues. of environmental context and sustainable development.

Able to understand and differentiate the theories. State; basic Concepts of Sovereignty, Liberty, Equality, Rights, Law, Justice; approaches to the study of Political Science; Marxian theory/Concepts & State, Freedom, Democracy, Revolution and the major debates in Marxism.

Able to understand the historical background & framing of Indian Constitution; basic principles and features of our Constitution; Fundamental Rights and Duties; Directive principles of State Policy; structure and functions of Central Government, State Government and Local Administration; federal structure and Centre-State relationship in India; role various Constitutional institutions; and Legislature, Executive and Judiciary in India with their role and procedure of functioning.

Able to evaluate the Indian Party System; role of various forces of Indian Politics including Caste tribe, Religion, Language, Regional factors, Working Class, peasants etc. Able to analyse various social movements, viz, Environmental movements, Women's movements and Human Rights movements and so on.

Able to trace the evolution of Indian Political Thought (Ancient, Medieval and Modern) and to discuss the views of eminent Indian thinkers.

Able to explain important and significant features of Western Political Thought (Ancient, Medieval and Modern) and to discuss the views of eminent Western thinkers.

Able to understand key concepts of Comparative Politics and Government with special attention to historical, political, economic, conflict resolving geographical and conflict resolving aspects of Governance in various countries.

Able to grow an awareness about different types of Laws effective in India Such as Personal Laws, Customary Laws, Laws, relating to Dowry, Laws relating to sexual harassment and violence against women. Able to apply primary knowledge in Criminal Jurisdiction    specially provisions and procedures relating to filing an FIR, Arrest, Bail, Search, Seizure, questions of evidence and offense under IPC .
